Brief Changes

the idea of this project was to design a fashion look-book based on the fashion at AUB, however as i was experimenting the weather was still a little chilly which meant the fashion would be more experimental and there will be a lot of layers on each persons outfit. this mean each person would be an individual in terms of what they where wearing. again as the sun began to come out, the fashion and looks of those individuals became the same which meant the look of my designs wouldn't be and good as i wanted it to be. so i kept the very idea of style and winter and merged it with the coherent style of everyone in summer and made my designs based around that idea. hope it makes more sense when you see the final designs

bottom designs

having experimented a lot on each outfit, for reason not clear to me the bottom half of each person was more interesting than the rest of the body.  i believe these two designs speak for themselves and at this point in time i am very happy as all i have been trying to do for the last 2 to 3 years is to make my work speak for themselves without me having to explain my ideas behind each design. PS. only the bottom shoe design made it in the final 8 deign images.

fashion looks

in these designs i have started to experiment with the all outfit, seeing how it would look and feel. as the process was a little complex and delicate, i had to be very careful with how each component fitted. i really like the look of each designs i have made the colour choices are almost perfect, each colour compliment the other and the background colour is just as important as the foreground. however having made about 20 different designs and each design taking at least an hour and half, at this point i had to be very critical with what i was looking for. the very idea of the project was to simplify an outfit to a part which stands out the most on each subject.

Mono prints

Mono printing is a style of print making which is very quick and easy " when you have the right ink".
as i wanted quick results of what kind of designs i was looking for ? i use this print making technique to almost visualise the designs moving. to me these designs look as tho they where moving because of the print residue left in and around the image, almost as if the wind was blowing.

water colours

As my experiments continued i wanted to use water colours to get an idea of what i wanted to design. as i am not that good with water colours i struggled a lot trying to get the colours i wanted.  however i though if i could take a picture of what i wanted, then i could simply trace it and then the design aspect of things would be a lot easier.

objects

OBJECT EXPERIMENTS

at this point i was just beginning to research the new style of work i will be using. the 20 THINGS workshop really started this experiment. here i was looking into object and trying to simplify them into one or two colours, then using ink brush to had necessary details.  as i kept experimenting with this style to keep the look of the work consistent, i began to understand how it would work with objects and now i began to question whether it would work on people or fashion. pushing the boundaries of this technique was what i looking for.
